Biodiversity is a concept that encompasses the entire variety of life including ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which it is part. So has three scales grosso mode: ecosystems, species and genes. It is difficult to define the concept of ecosystem.

Importance of biodiversity












Biodiversity is the greatest wealth of our planet , as it has ensured the maintenance of life along the different geological processes that have occurred on Earth.


The activities of the human being in ecosystems is threatening biodiversity, causing the extinction of many species at a very high pace, with serious consequences in the biosphere.

Benefits of biodiversity:


















The benefits of biodiversity are the guarantees of wellness and balance in the biosphere. The various elements that compose the biodiversity conform true functional units, which provide and ensure many basic "services" for our survival.


Finally from our humanity, diversity also represents a natural capital. The use and benefit of biodiversity has contributed in many ways to the development of human culture, and represents a potential source provide for future needs.

Disadvantages of biodiversity









The disadvantages of biodiversity are the loss of this that has negative effects on various aspects of human welfare, such as food security, vulnerability to natural disasters, energy security and access to clean water and raw materials .

It also affects human health, social relations and freedom of choice.

Biodiversity is declining rapidly due to factors such as changes in land use , climate change, invasive species, overexploitation and pollution.
